Why do I smoke?

The Topic: I’ve came to the conclusion that I am now a smoker — how, I don’t know.

The Experience: I know its bad for you, but it makes me feel good. I know it gives me bad breath, but I like the taste. I know people look at you funny, but still. I’m not going to be the stuck up smoker and say “it’s my body and I can do what I want with it” simply because I know people care about me and my health. There is just something about lighting up, and for that 8-10 minutes not have a care in the world. I suppose it began when I started smoking cigars — which I still do. All I can say is the cigars get expensive fast. 5-15$ per stick is certainly not cheap! Especially on a college student who has no job budget. I’ve been a member of certain internet boards — of which all members are smokers. I suppose it peaked my curiosity. I made the leap and bought my first pack — then another — then another — and another.

My Lady Nicotine

My everyday smoke — American Spirit Perique

You know the feeling after you run a mile? That’s what smoking feels like. You can feel the nicotine coursing through your blood, and it is comforting. You feel relaxed.
Now, I dont even come close to a pack a day, or even half. A pack will last me a great while — maybe 2 weeks. At $5 a pack you can see the difference in pricing between a $2 cigar the size of a cigarette.
Some say a cigarette is an abuse of tobacco, which I must say I agree with. Instead of enjoying the flavor like a cigar, you are consuming it into your body.
As I abruptly end this random rant I want to assure you — The smoking ends the last day of the college semester. My will power and self-control will prevail — so until May 22…
