Why I don’t curse (much)
Try this on for size…
The Topic: If you know me or have been around me for a while, you probably know that I don’t use curse words (much). I find it odd that even though just about everyone I know curses on a regular basis, it is something I rarely find myself doing. I call me weird if you wish.
With all the influence the media has on kids these days, with all the violence and swearing, it isn’t surprising that you can go just about anywhere and find people young and old cursing away. Now — I’m not saying that it is a bad or good thing. I suppose what I am getting at is that in my reflection today I find it puzzling that even though there are all of these influences, I simply don’t curse in public places — even with close friends. I may blurt out the occasionally rare “shit” when I am alone and do something wrong or screw up, but that is about it.
Not to say I have higher standards or get offended by people who do curse, as I find Tourettes Guy extremely hilarious. I suppose it was just the way I was raised — Curse words were rarely used in my household when I was a kid, I attended a Parochial School as a child, and attended mass once a week, sometimes two! As you know, kids at this age are very subject to influence. I was always told that words like that should never be used, and they signified a bad or pessimistic situation. Simply put, those values stuck with me — even to this day. It’s just part of my personality now, and I venture to guess always will be.
We all come from diffrent backgrounds, and the things around us made us what we are today.
Try to influence your life positively everyday.
